Urban Sociologist Lab structures its work around two core pillars of urban regeneration, centered on traditional markets as a living venue for transformation.

1. Regeneration of Traditional Markets

We aim to revitalize traditional markets by addressing their structural limitations—particularly the lack of digital transformation (DX) and AI integration (AX). By introducing data-driven systems and new operational models, we create future-ready economic activities. The primary focus is on generating sustainable jobs and accelerating small businesses within the local ecosystem.

2. Cultural Reconstruction

Beyond economic regeneration, we focus on redefining local culture.

(2-1) Archiving and Analysis
We document and analyze the history and heritage of the region, transforming overlooked local narratives into structured knowledge.

(2-2) Cultural Production
We develop performance-based programs that reinterpret history, multicultural identity, and food, creating new cultural assets unique to Pyeongtaek. Through these efforts, we aim to transform traditional markets into both economic and cultural engines of urban regeneration.
